“iVote has been highly successful in engaging Year 12 and Year 13 students in voter registration, significantly increasing their understanding of the democratic process. The initiative has empowered students by providing clear, accessible information and support, making it incredibly easy for them to register and participate. We were so assured to know that there are organisations in the space that understand the importance of engaging young and sometimes disenfranchised voices.”
Ashley Caswell, Teacher of English and Head of Year 12, Weatherhead High School, Wallasey, Merseyside
“On Friday 15th March 2024, iVote visited the school to promote the importance of voting amongst our young people, particularly with the London Mayoral and General Elections just around the corner. Over 300 year 13s engaged and then many took part in the voter registration afternoon. Some of these students then launched seven whole school assemblies of the back of the iVote talk, using videos to underline the importance of democracy and getting your voice heard. Across the seven days over 2000 students from years 7-12 took part in the assemblies.”
Ed MacLeod – Vice Principal, Beal High School, London
“The session delivered by iVote really engaged and inspired our Year 12s. The importance of registering to vote, in encouraging our politicians to value the opinions of young people, really resonated with them. Delivering the session on the day of the General Election also helped to enthuse our students on the importance of voting.”
Jo Tolley, Head of Sixth Form, Beaumont School, St Albans
“iVote presented a very engaging assembly to our Sixth Form cohort on the history and importance of voting. This lead to a surge in students registering to vote!”
Ewen Finnie, Teacher of Geography & Sixth Form Year Leader, The Grange Academy, Bushey
“I found the whole process of getting the students registered to vote really easy as a Sixth Form leader. It was great having the fun presentation/assembly provided for the students and this really grabbed their interest in the need to vote as a young adult. The video creation competition was great and absolutely suited to the younger generations’ skill set and it was fantastic to see those who submitted entries having fun with their directing!”
Matt O’Kelly, Head of Sixth Form, Bushey Meads Academy
“iVote helped our young adults navigate their role in the future of our democracy, showing them the importance of engaging with the electoral system. Students were enthused and excited to ensure that they were registered to vote. An invaluable part of any education and an excellent addition to any sixth form offering.”
Gemma Gardner, Head of 6th form, Future Academies Watford
“iVote’s campaign got our students talking about voting. For many of our sixth formers, they thought they had to wait to register to vote until they were 18 – but now we have over 70% of our sixth formers registered to vote and using their voice in any way they choose. iVote worked alongside our Government and Politics Society in which we held a voter registration event, hosted political speakers and held in-house debate sessions which has created a more politically interested cohort.”
Olivia Shanahan, Teacher of History and Government and Politics, Watford Grammar School for Girls
“Engaging with iVote has been a great experience for our students. They really felt that they were making a difference. The fact that our students were so involved also had a positive impact on the whole student community, encouraging them to engage much more with politics in the run up to the General Election.”
Chris Horner, Head of Upper Sixth, History and Politics Department, Watford Grammar School for Boys
“Using iVote’s resources helped us to engage our sixth formers in the democratic process and inspired some of them to actively produce materials to persuade others to register to vote. We ended up with a very high level of voter registration and more importantly a much higher interest in the General Election and Politics in general.”
Peter Martini-Phillips, Assistant-Director of Sixth Form (Year 13), Channing School, London
